PMMA Salighirang Class of 2026!

A total of 327 graduating midshipmen of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) officially embark on a new chapter as future maritime professionals and uniformed service officers. Led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the commencement exercises held at the PMMA Complex in San Narciso, Zambales, the graduates represent a new generation of leaders committed to excellence, integrity, discipline, and dedicated service to the nation.

The "Salighirang" Class of 2026 is composed of 146 Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) graduates and 181 Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE) graduates. The class name, derived from the words "Salig" (trust) and "Hirang" (chosen), reflects the Academy\'s vision of producing trusted leaders who will serve as symbols of excellence and pillars of the Philippine maritime industry.

Leading the graduating class is Midshipman First Class Mark Owen Trilles of Tigaon, Camarines Sur, who earned the distinction of Class Valedictorian through determination, resilience, and academic excellence. A Philippine Coast Guard scholar, his journey stands as a testament to perseverance, proving that setbacks can become stepping stones toward greater achievements through hard work and unwavering commitment.

For more than two centuries, the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy has remained one of the country\'s premier maritime institutions, producing highly competent merchant marine officers and future leaders of the merchant fleet, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, and other maritime organizations. As they leave the Academy, the graduates carry with them the values of honor, courage, discipline, professionalism, and public service that have defined generations of PMMA alumni.

The maritime industry continues to play a vital role in global trade, with Filipino seafarers recognized worldwide for their competence, resilience, and dedication.
