The Joint Manning Group (JMG) conducted the JMG Info-Series No. 01-2026 on July 24, 2026, focusing on the 2026 Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Seabased Rules and Regulations and the Standard Employment Contract (SEC) for Seafarers at the Sheraton Manila Hotel, Newport World Resorts, Pasay City.
Held in coordination with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the event gathered maritime stakeholders to discuss significant regulatory updates affecting Filipino seafarers, including employment procedures, deployment requirements, welfare protection, and industry compliance.
The program featured discussions on the pertinent provisions of the 2026 DMW Seabased Rules and Regulations led by Atty. Janine T. Tutanes, Head of Legal Service, DMW, followed by an open forum with representatives from DMW and maritime organizations.
The afternoon session focused on the key provisions of the 2026 Standard Employment Contract for Seafarers (SEC-S), presented by Atty. Albert Ranier Valenciano of DMW Legal Services, with industry representatives participating in discussions regarding implementation and concerns from the maritime sector.
The information series provided a platform for government agencies, manning organizations, and maritime stakeholders to strengthen understanding of the updated policies and promote proper implementation of regulations aimed at improving the protection and welfare of Filipino seafarers.
