An Indian-flagged cargo vessel sank in the Red Sea on August 4 after it was reportedly hit near the coast of Yemen. According to India's Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the vessel Faize Noore Oliya was struck by a projectile, causing it to capsize and sink. The incident happened near Yemeni waters and is being investigated.

All 14 crew members on board, including 13 Indian nationals, were rescued safely by the Yemeni Coast Guard and brought to the Port of Mokha. India said it strongly condemned the attack and confirmed that its maritime authorities are working with other agencies to support the rescued crew and help protect Indian seafarers operating in the area.

Maritime intelligence company Windward said its analysis suggests the vessel may have been hit by an explosives-laden boat about 13 nautical miles south of Hodeidah. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident. However, Windward noted that the location and the reported method of attack are similar to previous operations linked to the Houthi movement, while stressing that responsibility has not been confirmed.

The sinking comes as security concerns continue to grow in the Red Sea, where attacks on commercial ships have increased in recent months. India had already advised its shipping companies to be extra careful when sailing through high-risk waters, including areas near the Strait of Hormuz, as tensions in the region remain high.
