MUSCAT, OMAN — Fourteen Filipino seafarers from MT Acheloos received government assistance following a missile incident involving their vessel on July 20, 2026. The assistance was provided by the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Muscat, the Philippine Embassy in Oman, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
The Filipino crew members safely disembarked at Shinas Port in Oman. Government personnel assisted them with transportation to Muscat, provided meals and airport assistance, and helped prepare the necessary arrangements for their return to the Philippines.
MWO-Muscat also coordinated with the seafarers’ manning agency and the vessel’s local agent in Oman to facilitate their disembarkation, transportation, and repatriation. The 14 seafarers departed Muscat on August 9 aboard a Qatar Airways flight and traveled through Doha before continuing to Manila.
The Filipino seafarers are scheduled to arrive at Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 4:30 p.m. on August 10, 2026. Their repatriation forms part of the Philippine government’s continuing assistance to Filipino seafarers affected by maritime security incidents while working overseas.
