Two Filipino seafarers from M/V Arklow Beacon arrived in Manila on August 9, 2026, after sustaining minor injuries in a suspected hate crime in Bristol, United Kingdom. They were among three Filipino crew members involved in the incident. A third Filipino seafarer remains in critical condition.

Officials from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and representatives of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) welcomed the two seafarers at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3. The workers had earlier received financial assistance and other support through the Migrant Workers Office in London while recovering in the United Kingdom.

Representatives of Sealanes Marine Services, Inc., the seafarers’ deploying manning agency, were also present upon their arrival. The DMW and OWWA instructed the agency to arrange physical and psychological assessments, as well as debriefing sessions, for the returning crew members.

Meanwhile, government agencies directed the manning agency to continue providing assistance to the Filipino seafarer who remains in critical condition and to his family. The DMW and OWWA said support would also remain available to the two repatriated seafarers as they continue their recovery in the Philippines.
