DMW Chief Visits Seafarers Affected by Northern Black Sea Attacks

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac visited Filipino seafarers affected by an attack in the Northern Black Sea on August 10, 2026, in Yalova, Türkiye. The visit was conducted to personally check on the condition and welfare of the crew members following the incident.

During the visit, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) provided initial assistance to help address the basic needs of the affected seafarers. The department continues to coordinate efforts to ensure that appropriate government support is available to the crew.

Cacdac was accompanied by Vice Consul Maika Ross B. Fontelera, Labor Attaché Adam Musa of the Migrant Workers Office-Lebanon, and members of the DMW Rapid Response Team. The officials met with the seafarers and assessed their immediate concerns and needs.

The DMW chief also expressed appreciation to the government of Türkiye and the Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Philippine Consulate General, for their continued coordination and assistance. Philippine authorities are continuing efforts to support Filipino seafarers affected by the ongoing security situation in the region.
