MUSCAT, Oman — August 19, 2026 — Seventeen Filipino seafarers who survived an incident involving the M/V Minoan Dignity off Khasab, Musandam, are scheduled to return to the Philippines after receiving assistance from Philippine government agencies.
The Philippine Embassy in Muscat and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) visited the affected seafarers in Khasab on August 19. The team, led by Labor Attaché Alice Visperas, checked on their condition, discussed their concerns, and provided cash assistance for their immediate needs.
The seafarers are expected to travel from Khasab to Muscat on August 20 before taking an Emirates Airlines flight to Manila on August 21. They are scheduled to arrive at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 at around 10:10 p.m. Philippine authorities will assist them at Muscat International Airport to ensure an orderly departure and repatriation.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to bring home the remains of the Filipino seafarer who died in the incident. MWO-Muscat is coordinating with Omani authorities, the vessel’s shipowner, and its local agent to facilitate the repatriation. The Philippine Embassy, MWO, and OWWA are also continuing to provide support to the affected seafarers and the family of the deceased.
