The M/V Antonia 2 has been cleared to resume operations after completing corrective and preventive measures required following a series of safety inspections conducted by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).

As part of the compliance measures, essential ship plans and manuals, including the General Accommodation Plan, Fire Control Plan, Lifesaving Plan, and Stowage Plan, were properly posted and made accessible to the crew. An Emergency Escape Manual was also made available onboard, while revised ship plans and drawings were reviewed and submitted for MARINA approval.

The vessel’s navigational and emergency readiness was also strengthened. Required large-scale nautical charts covering its trading area and updated tide tables were provided for navigating officers. Portable oxygen equipment and a spine board were also verified to be available and in proper condition for medical emergencies.

For passenger safety, fire exit markings were installed in the VIP and air-conditioned cabins on the vessel’s lower deck. The master and officers were also reminded to maintain safety protocols, including playing the onboard safety video, regularly checking the location and condition of life jackets, and ensuring that cargo is properly secured and monitored during every voyage.

MARINA said the measures form part of its continuing verification process to ensure that safety requirements are not only completed on paper but are properly implemented and maintained onboard. At present, M/V Antonia 2 is the only vessel operating among the 34 vessels of Aleson Shipping Lines, Inc. (ASLI).
