Sep 01, 2026

The National Seafarers’ Day (NSD) Committee successfully held a preparatory meeting on Tuesday, September 1, at the Intership Crew Philippines, Inc. office at PITX in Parañaque City, as preparations continue for the 31st National Seafarers’ Day and 27th National Maritime Week this September 2026.

The meeting focused on planned activities, schedules, coordination, and other arrangements for the month-long observance recognizing the contributions of Filipino seafarers to the country and the global maritime industry. Participants also discussed the roles of participating agencies and organizations to help ensure the smooth conduct of the scheduled activities.

This year’s observance carries the theme, “Marinong Pilipino: Matatag sa Alon, Matibay sa Hamon,” highlighting the resilience, professionalism, and dedication of Filipino seafarers amid the challenges and demands of working at sea. The theme also reflects the continuing importance of Filipino maritime professionals in international shipping and global trade.

Representatives from key government agencies attended and supported the meeting, including the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Their participation forms part of the continuing cooperation among agencies involved in maritime safety, employment, welfare, and seafarer development.

Representatives from manning agencies, maritime press and media, seafarers’ unions, maritime organizations, the private sector, and other stakeholders also participated. Discussions centered on strengthening coordination, finalizing preparations, and encouraging wider participation in the activities for the 31st National Seafarers’ Day and 27th National Maritime Week this September.
