The remains of a Filipino Chief Engineer who served aboard the M/V Minoan Dignity have been repatriated to the Philippines from Oman following an incident in the Strait of Hormuz.

The remains arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on September 1, 2026, aboard Oman Air flight WY843. Upon arrival, the remains were properly received and turned over for the necessary procedures before being transported to the seafarer’s family.

Representatives from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the licensed manning agency were present to assist with the arrival and turnover. The agencies coordinated the arrangements to ensure the remains were properly received and brought home to the family.

The seafarer’s family was also at the airport for his final homecoming. OWWA provided assistance and support to the family and said it would continue coordinating with concerned government agencies and partners to address their other needs following the seafarer’s death.
