SAFETY4SEA SINGAPORE FORUM 2025

The 5th SAFETY4SEA Singapore Forum concluded successfully at The Westin Singapore, bringing together shipowners, maritime leaders, regulators, training institutions, and manning agencies to discuss how safety, welfare, and future skills will define the next era of global shipping. A central theme was the industry’s ongoing shift from compliance-based safety to a culture-driven approach. Speakers emphasized that true safety goes beyond certificates, drills, and manuals — it lies in mindset, leadership, accountability, and daily decision-making onboard. Despite technological advancements, human factors such as fatigue, miscommunication, outdated practices, and poor leadership remain leading causes of maritime incidents.

SAFETY4SEA Singapore Forum 2025

Singapore once again becomes a key gathering point for maritime professionals as the 5th SAFETY4SEA Singapore Forum takes place on 22 October 2025 at The Westin Singapore. Organized in association with MacGregor and SQE Marine, this forum remains a free and non-profit event, providing an independent platform for industry stakeholders to exchange knowledge, address pressing challenges and strengthen the culture of safety and sustainability across global shipping. More than 200 maritime professionals and representatives from over 100 organizations are expected to attend. The forum will explore how evolving safety and environmental regulations are reshaping industry responsibilities and operational standards. Particular attention will be given to the human element in shipping, including crew welfare, mental health, competency development and the critical role of training in risk prevention. Another major focus will be on decarbonization strategies and the adoption of smart technologies, including digital tools, data-driven decision making and best practices that enhance shipboard and shoreside operations. Discussions aim to bridge regulatory expectations with practical implementation while promoting collaboration among shipowners, managers, policymakers, insurers, educators and technology providers.

Marino PH joins the nation in celebration of world maritime day & national maritime week

Marino PH proudly joins the Philippine maritime community and the rest of the world in celebrating the 26th National Maritime Week from September 22 to 28, 2025, alongside the global observance of World Maritime Day on September 25, 2025. These events are significant annual milestones that honor the vital contributions of the maritime sector to the nation’s economy, global trade, and sustainable development. With the theme “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity,” this year’s celebration emphasizes the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in safeguarding the oceans while recognizing the opportunities they provide for growth, livelihood, and innovation. The theme also reflects the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) vision of ensuring safe, secure, and sustainable shipping, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). National Maritime Week in the Philippines features a variety of activities organized by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and other government and private sector partners. These include the traditional maritime parade, forums on safety and sustainability, career guidance fairs for students, and tributes to Filipino seafarers who remain at the heart of global shipping. Meanwhile, World Maritime Day provides a platform for international collaboration, reminding the global community of the importance of protecting the marine environment, addressing climate change, and promoting greener shipping practices. As the largest online maritime community in the Philippines, Marino PH continues to stand firm in its mission to advocate for seafarers’ welfare, promote awareness on maritime issues, and highlight the crucial role of Filipino seafarers in keeping global trade moving. We invite everyone to join us in these meaningful celebrations as we honor our maritime heritage and strengthen our collective commitment to a sustainable future.

MARINO PH Joins the Nation in Celebrating MANAMo 2025

This September ,the Philippines once again observes Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANAMo) 2025 with the theme “Nagkakaisang Kapuluan, Panatag na Karagatan.” MARINO PH, the largest maritime community in the Philippines and in the world, proudly joins the nation in this significant celebration that highlights our identity as a maritime and archipelagic state. For a country of more than 7,600 islands, the sea is not just a boundary—it is our bridge, our lifeline, and our shared heritage. The Philippines is a nation uniquely shaped by its waters, and Filipinos are a people defined by their seafaring spirit. The ocean sustains our coastal communities, fuels our maritime economy, and connects us to the global trading system. Most importantly, it provides livelihood for millions of Filipinos, especially our seafarers who represent the very best of our nation on every ocean and aboard every vessel. The celebration of MANAMo serves as a reminder of the Philippines’ unique position as both a maritime powerhouse and an archipelagic nation. Our maritime heritage is not only a matter of history, but also a living, breathing reality that continues to shape the lives of Filipinos today. From fisherfolk in our coastal barangays to officers and crew members serving aboard international vessels, the Filipino identity is deeply tied to the sea. At MARINO PH, our advocacy has always been anchored on three pillars: empowering seafarers, raising awareness of maritime issues, and strengthening the role of the Filipino maritime community in nation-building. Through our platform, we give voice to the sacrifices and triumphs of our seafarers, amplify discussions on maritime education and welfare, share critical updates on policies and international developments, and encourage responsible stewardship of our oceans. Our community thrives on the collective stories of resilience, discipline, and professionalism that Filipino seafarers embody, making them true modern-day heroes of the sea. MANAMo 2025 is a powerful reminder that unity is essential in safeguarding our maritime domain and ensuring that our oceans remain secure, sustainable, and resilient. It calls upon every Filipino to take part in protecting our waters, whether through education, advocacy, policy support, or responsible environmental practices. It also emphasizes the vital contributions of our seafarers—not only as global maritime professionals but also as cultural bearers of our archipelagic identity and frontliners in defending our maritime heritage. As we celebrate this month, MARINO PH reaffirms its commitment to remain a bridge between the maritime industry and the Filipino people. We will continue to champion programs that focus on seafarer welfare, maritime education, environmental responsibility, digital empowerment, and mental health awareness. By strengthening these initiatives, we not only honor our heritage but also prepare future generations to inherit a maritime nation that is resilient, united, and forward-looking. Together, let us celebrate MANAMo 2025. Together, let us safeguard our oceans, honor our maritime heritage, and remain united as one archipelago and one maritime nation.
